Who we are
The Associated Students of Ohlone College Research and Development Division is a group of dedicated students who are organizing a hackathon targeting college students.
OhloneHacks 2.0 is the second iteration of the first community college hackathon in the Bay Area. Our mission is to create networking opportunities for two-year college students who may not otherwise have access to other events held by larger universities due to limited availability. We endeavor to provide resources and collaborative space to expose our peers to technology that is not traditionally used in the classroom.
Our major theme this year is “Cyber Security” - encouraging users to protect and build strong habits to protect their cyber data. From storing valuable personal information online to the smart-home devices in homes, technology has benefited humanity greatly. However, with this broadness, someone with malicious intent can remotely gain control of personal data, leading to harm for many. We believe that it is paramount for students and young adults to learn and improve their safety consciousness to maintain one’s online security.
Our goal is to maximize innovation, understanding, and promote exploration along these lines.
